Is porn acceptable in school libraries as long as it’s supporting a good story? Our guest Dawn Justice shares how this argument was used against a motion to remove graphically descriptive sexual novels from school libraries. As a mother and recently elected school board member, Dawn believes that parents are the best remedy to helping a child navigate today’s muddy waters of gender identity and graphic sexual content.

“Unacceptable materials in schools? Who defines what pornagraphic materials are? In the commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia defines it. So about ten days ago I began an investigation into the books which fall into the category of pornography due to the following definition from Virginia code…What I found was disturbing, alarming, and something that you as parents need to know about.” — Dawn Justice, school board member and homeschooling mom

Here are a few of the topics Dawn talks about in today’s episode:

  • Pornagraphic literature is a systemic problem that is based on Critical Race Theory, blurring the lines of gender, and destroying the American family
  • How porn is being excused when it’s in the context of a storyline that encourages empathy
  • The consequences of children’s exposure to graphic content
  • Parents being the only ones qualified to talk to their children about gender
  • Engaging with school leadership to prevent pornographic material
  • Having one-on-one time with your children to foster important conversations
  • Tips and tricks that have helped others to have those uncomfortable, but vital, conversations about gender and sexuality with their children
