School board members who missed the Noah Webster Educational Foundation’s 2023 School Board Summit can now access all the training sessions through a brand new online course.

On May 15th, NWEF launched its much-anticipated summit course called Navigating Governance: A School Member’s Guide to Policy, Accountability, & Student Achievement. From applying FOIA to handling gender ideology, this training answers many burning questions for the up-and-coming school board member.

In early March of this year, NWEF hosted a professional development training summit in Virginia to equip school board members to better serve their constituents. The event provided practical training on the day-to-day issues that every member faces, such as what powers school board members have according to the law and how to handle Title IX and free speech matters. Attendees heard from Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Virginia Assistant State Superintendent Elizabeth Schultz, and several veteran school board members, legal experts, and experienced educators.

As promised to attendees, NWEF released this new Navigating Governance online course as a compilation of information-packed sessions from the summit. Additionally, those who were unable to attend the summit in person may access the training sessions.

NWEF will later release each session as its own course for those who do not wish to purchase the entire course bundle. However, the bundle will have special features like Governor Youngkin’s speech that will not be available in the individual courses.

You can access the Navigating Governance course here.
